Greetings, friends!
Yesterday I learned a very neat Scottish phrase “hurdle-durkle” which means “to be in bed long after it’s time to get up”—so it feels fitting to tell you today that I am writing this newsletter at the last minute as I sit here hurkle-durkling.
When I first pitched the idea of “what if the Loch Ness monster was a hot cursed guy”, I definitely expected a laugh or two, so when I was met with “now hold on a minute…” I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least. I never expected to feel so much writing this book. I thought I would write a silly little story about my favorite cryptid and that would be that—so writing such an emotional journey filled with magic and mystery (and yes, monster penis) was a pleasant surprise.
Under Loch & Key has been fortunate enough to be an Indie Next, Library Reads pick and an Editor’s Pick on Amazon for December (in Romance AND Fantasy!), and more excitement—has been tapped for three special editions. (One that is still yet to come, and is very beautiful, and I can’t wait for you all to see it.)
I am so grateful for everyone who has shared excitement over this silly little story; I appreciate you all so much more than I can properly express—and that will continue to be true for EVERY story I put out. You guys make all of this possible, and I am so grateful for you.
If you have already read (or plan to read) Under Loch & Key and have a hot minute, I would greatly appreciate you taking the time to review on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or wherever you get your books!
As always, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who continues to make this process so special. You have my undying love.
Under Loch & Key by Lana Ferguson
A woman discovers that not all monsters are her enemy—the opposite, in fact—in this new paranormal romance by Lana Ferguson, author of The Fake Mate.
Keyanna “Key” MacKay is used to secrets. Raised by a single father who never divulged his past, it’s only after his death that she finds herself thrust into the world he’d always refused to speak of. With just a childhood bedtime story about a monster that saved her father’s life and the name of her estranged grandmother to go off of, Key has no idea what she’ll find in Scotland. But repeating her father’s mistakes and being rescued by a gorgeous, angry Scotsman—who thinks she’s an idiot—is definitely the last thing she expects.
Lachlan Greer has his own secrets to keep, especially from the bonnie lass he pulls to safety from the slippery shore—a lass with captivating eyes and the last name he’s been taught not to trust. He’s looking for answers as well, and Key’s presence on the grounds they both now occupy presents a real problem. It’s even more troublesome when he gets a front row seat to the lukewarm welcome Key receives from her family; the strange powers she begins to develop; and the fierce determination she brings to every obstacle in her path. Things he shouldn’t care about, and someone he definitely doesn’t find wildly attractive.
When their secrets collide, it becomes clear that Lachlan could hold the answers Keyanna is after—and that she might also be the key to uncovering his. Up against time, mystery, and a centuries old curse, they’ll quickly discover that magic might not only be in fairy tales, and that love can be a real loch-mess.
